In these days of Covid
life has come to a standstill.
I no longer look anxiously at my watch
while sitting in thick traffic
breathing in fumes of a grey world on steroids,
running full steam towards constant economic growth.
In this lockdown,
I step outside my front door
find a trail to walk along,
dream of seeing the gently flowing Shuswap,
breathing in the pure clean air,
allowing my own thoughts to meander,
to feel the earth solidly beneath my feet
in this Splatsin unceded territory,
to hear the voices of the ancient ones
calling me to pause,
to see the willow trees dancing
in the changing wind
against the backdrop
of a bright
blue
sky.
Can hardly wait!
